In the end... In the end... .In the end, I've come to believe in something I call "The Physics of the Quest." A force in nature governed by laws as real as the laws of gravity. The rule of Quest Physics goes something like this: If you're brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter, old resentments, and set out on a truth-seeking journey, either externally or internally, and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher and if you are prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.” |

I love the interplay between you and uncommondom, M. My life has been a struggle between the uncomfortable zone I started with and the more comfortable one I found by leaving it. Not everyone has that experience... only the brave. And they are sometimes only accidentally brave, and the truths that the bravery reveals can be uncomfortable.

The thing about rules in human behavior, is that the reality never reaches the predicted theoretical end. It is true that learning begins outside your comfort zone . . But leaving ones comfort zone is usually just a perception, seldom real . . Our habits, character and core being follow like a shadow . . forgetting those realities about yourself . . isn't possible, because they aren't conscientious behavior . . Leaving them behind it's just one of those little white lies . . we whisper to ourselves when we think we need to be different. Our core character, ethics and beliefs never really change cradle to grave. We mature, become fearful, a little wiser . . and in the end, take ourselves a little less serious.

something to think about... "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”
