good ole pres ..er ex pres obama

I find it ironic that the ex president goes to italy to give a speech on global warming ( er "climate change"..
.he write ironically considering it is almost june here in kc and 46 fucking degrees this morning!!!!!
..Obama not only went to italy but he took a private jet and a 14 car motor pool to him.

Hmmm I thought he was the ex pres....does he really really need that big of production?
( wouldn't jimmie joe/bubba and a few cans of natty lite in the back of a pickup be enough protection?) I mean who the hell wants to harm obama???

and the carbon footprint??? don't even get me started...seems the bigger the environmentalist, the more fossil fuels they use...
This is where I can't bash ed begley jr..at least that guy talks the talk and walks the walk.. He's a tall dude driving a small electric car..

and honestly I'm not an environmentalist... BUT I"M all in favor of the government funding batteries and getting rid of the gas powered engine.. trust me as someone that repairs cars.. I'm be more than happy to see them suckers go.

But then we have to come up with a cheap source of energy...I live in the midwest and yes there is some use of wind/solar power...but it isn't super windy here and cloudy at times...so perhaps something else to replace coal for energy???

You'd think these types would take a page out of the pope's socialist playbook.....look humble on the outside...drive a honda accord or a prius to these things...your message holds more water

yes, just like the champagne liberals who espouse those values, yet enjoy the lives of the rich and powerful.
I was actually a climate change/global warming activist for several years (back into the 1990s to about 2005). The research started to made me question human created global warming. The you added carbon tax movement on that. Hmmmm. Then you saw the interplay of politics in the mix.

I really tried not to choose sides on this one. I'd bash bush/ pense/ trump etc if they had a similar experience. But I'm tired of these fat cats ( and yes the former presidents .all of them) are wealthy...telling working America to do one thing and then they do something else.

overall, when it comes to climate change, the science is not settled for me.

we had some champagne liberals at the U where i used to work. They were part of the communist party, called fellow professors, comrades, and yet, they lived in one of the exclusive city neighborhoods, drove Lexus, and were always impeccably and expensively dressed. I dated such asshat as well, some years back. He came from very humble background, peasant/working class. Worked out of that class to become a professor, and then spat on it all. Expensive private schools for his kids, homes (yeah 2) a lot of other capitalist trappings. Wrote iwht a pen that was worth 500 dollars, yet i would see him, and not without some embarrassment, trying to talk street talk with Blacks. Such a fucking phony. Why didn't he live in downtown Detroit, instead of white bread and upscale Gross Pointe?

Come on Leo, you're not stupid. You know that the temperature in your burg or mine yesterday isn't what determines whether global warming is man-made or natural. Get a map of the polar ice cap 30 years ago and this year. The internet is full of them. I saw one in the newspaper in the past month. The damn ice caps are melting. So what's causing it? How much of Florida is gonna be under water in 50 years? Those are the issues. The guys who decide should be climate scientists. That doesn't include you and me. That also doesn't mean our favorite climate scientist, or the one who gets the biggest pay-off from the energy companies to raise questions and create confusion. It means an across-the-board consensus of uncorrupted scientists.

As for Obama's or Trump's motorcade, I haven't seen a photo of either, but I've seen plenty of motorcades. They're mainly security cars and accompanying dignitaries and staff. Somebody in charge of security and another in charge of protocol from the host country decides how many cars. Obama and Trump just get in the car they tell him to. Somebody well below his pay grade makes those decisions and no, they don't care about global warming when they make them. The decisions about global warming that matter are those that determine what the major contributors to global warming are and which of those contributors to concentrate on to get the biggest, fastest results. The factors that figure into that decision are both scientific and political. You go after the dirtiest and the easiest. If a big contributor is politically protected, they may get a pass because the resources you would expend to get them to comply would be excessive relative to the results you would get. That, my friend, is called political reality. It gives people something to bitch about on their blogs, but it doesn't change anything.

As for what the rich do, we don't get to decide that either. The politicians are just barely smart enough to know that the general public will try to save money, so the smartest of a dumb lot try to make the most energy-efficient fuels and methods cheap, so we'll use them. The good thing about the rich in this case is that there are so few of them. Their private jets or Hummers make good fodder for blogs, but they don't mean much in the climate-change picture.

Dream catcher...do me a favor and grab your standard cup of choice...fill it with part ice and part water till it's filled to the top...

Place it on the table and wait for the ice to melt and then report back to us what happened...

NOTHING!!!!
if you understand science you'd realize the volume of water in the glass will remain the same..

So for all those that claim the polar caps are "melting" and soon new jersey will be under 10 feet of water..have no clue about science..

so please don't bring up the "polar caps" bs....

dream catcher...Mr obama is not a head of state....he isn't a diploma...he isn't even part of the government.. he is a private citizen...
so why would this conference be providing him security?

and if so then why 14 cars???

I can understand that security for the actualpresident... but not some ex

Sorry Leo. The polar ice is sitting atop the water, on Greenland and on Antarctica and various islands, North America and Russia and their respective ice shelves attached to land and covered in snow and ice. Dump those ice cubes in a full glass of water and report back to us what happened.

In case you haven't heard, ex presidents have full US Secret Service security details. Those guys get pretty shirty when they don't get the security cooperation they want from whoever is hosting the ex pres. and no host of an ex pres. wants him shot while visiting their shindig. You'll have to ask somebody who cares why they needed 14 cars. Maybe Obama gave some US attendees a ride. I never try to understand security people or conference administrators.
