My BP and other interesting shit i learned I thought I 'd give you all a lil update on myself as the month of july has begun. On july 31st I have to take my work related physical etc etc etc. I basically have a problem with my bp numbers/have to score below a 140 to pass etc.. Well it's 7/8/17..my exam is at the end of july..I dropped 27lbs ( down from 207)...been running on and off for a few months now and ....wait for it.. My numbers have basically stayed the same.. about 130 over 80 ish...WTF? ( are you shitting me?!) so I thought I'd share what is going on ...losing weight ( even 10lbs )/exercising is supposed to lower your bp.. I should be like 125 easily. Not only can certain foods/time of day the test is taken/how it's taken/if you had coffee that morning/ate anything before the test influence your results..( and yes tons more.. that is why I think the bp test is soooo fucked up) BUT exercise can have negative effects too....you think fuck I'll start running and lose the belly/drop some fat and hell that will bring my numbers down. Yet the body that says fuck you leo.. your mind is telling you cool..let's do this and the body is just going along for the ride. I'm hardly an "athlete" but if you "overtrain"..for your body's physical condition say from a couch potato to trying to run a few miles...then the body will actually raise your bp. And honestly over training is hard to really define..with a pro athlete they can hook him/her up to all these computers and devices to gauge progress etc.. a dude running in the streets? not so much..lol. ( ain't bp a bitch? I have to scale back my running to see results) Another thing that sucks is your bp can be influenced by the amount of water you drink..drink too much and your bp goes up....drink too little and your bp goes downnnnnnn. And the more you exercise the more you drink Yet your bp can also raise up if you drink too little.. the body tries to retain the salt levels in the body...so it makes me wonder then how do all those prescription diuretics really work then. They make you piss out excess water..but if they are too effective then they are counter productive. anyway just passing along some info... |

Could be? But shouldn't losing weight etc lower the number / there was no change

Not always. You might want to check with the Doc and see if there are meds that you might need to take to help with that
