What love really is.... Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion, it is not the desire to mate every second minute of the day, it is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every cranny of your body. No, don't blush, I am telling you some truths. That is just being "in love", which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.” |

I find it somewhat unfortunate that we use the same word for very different things. Many people think love is the passionate fire that you have when you have fallen in love. But that is really more a madness , a delicious madness in many cases but nevertheless a (hopefuly mild) temporary psychological disorder. The real love is what encompasses the things the Greek had several words for such as Agape, Eros, Philia and Storge, all of them feelings/emotions that we tend to all put under the same umbrella of love. As such it could be seen as a lack of our modern western culture to consider these all under the same term of love. "One Big Sky Covers Us All Equally"

Love is making it through the rough times and the desire to still want to be with the person who held your hand and walked you through it. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”
