You can give a person you don't know the benefit of the doubt and give them the basic respect and courtesy afforded anyone you first meet. But to truly respect them, it is earned not granted universally. If a person proves to be an asshat. Nope, not gonna respect them. But I will not go out of my to disparage them either, unless they give good reason for doing such. No need to get in a pissing match with every knucklehead.

I tend to think respect is something earned, but do believe that people should generally be polite, courteous, and mind their own business. Basic courtesy seems to be in short supply these days.

Of course. This doesn't apply to people who put pineapple on their pizzas. Some things are just wrong. I judge them harshly.

Because pineapple on pizza is a crime against nature and should be a concern on everyone's mind.

Maybe we need a "Godwin's law" concerning pineapples and pizza.

Plus, my thoughts usually circle back around to food before long, anyway. No matter the topic.

Respect. In my world is never a given. Those that get my respect have earned it by what they do and what they say and how the treat others. Just a title does not get respect. Thank You. I like your blog and Respect is something we all should think about.

I didn't say I wouldn't eat it. I'd just judge the responsible party...

Rusty's Pizza in Santa Barbara makes a pizza called the El Diablo. ithas the flolowing items on it with a traditional red sauce:

Sausage, green pepper, onions, black olives, Canadian Bacon, Pineapple, Jalapenos ,and abut four different cheeses. Oh and garlic in the crust. The Jalapeno and pinapple compliment the two meats rather well.
